Foster a Maremma — Be Their Bridge to a New Life

Fostering saves lives.

Every time someone opens their heart and home to foster a Maremma, it gives us the space and time to rescue another dog in need — and it gives that dog a chance to heal, trust, and thrive again.

At West Coast Maremma and Livestock Guardian Rescue, foster carers are the heart of what we do. They provide the safe, understanding environment that every Maremma needs before finding their forever home.

What Fostering Means

When you foster, you temporarily care for a Maremma who may:
You’re not on your own we will provide ongoing support, guidance, and cover essential vet costs. You provide the time, space, and kindness that help a Maremma transition from rescue to rehome.

Who Can Foster

You don’t need to have a farm or livestock to foster though rural or semi-rural properties with secure fencing are required.

We welcome fosters who:
Every foster home is different and that’s okay. Some Maremmas do best in a quiet environment; others thrive with purpose and space. We’ll help match you with the right dog for your lifestyle and experience.

What We Provide

We supply:
You supply love, safety, and a place for a dog to belong even if it’s just for a while.

Why It Matters

Many Maremmas arrive at our rescue after being misunderstood or mismatched to unsuitable environments. Your foster care helps us teach them that people can be trusted, routines can be safe, and life can be calm again.

Every foster placement directly saves a life and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a once-lost dog thrive because of your care.
